Introduction

Improving the efficiency of 5 Nottingham properties

Following the success of the PV installation at Aston Court, Chesterfield, our client Fortem Solutions requested we visit five properties in Nottingham for NCHA to design and then install several measures to improve the efficiency of the properties.

Project Details

Protecting residents against rising energy costs

Following an initial retrofit assessment of the properties and a full review of the specification given to us, our in-house design team produced a detailed report which maximised the efficiency of the properties and protected the residences against the rising costs of energy bills. The works included the replacement of the existing electrical heaters with Lot20 complient high efficiency storage heaters, the replacement of all the existing lights with LED’s, the installation of a new solar PV system with battery storage and new unvented cylinders which were installed by our Scarbrook mechanical division.

Pre-install Strategy

Collaborating with Fortem to work seamlessly within an existing programmes

Following the acceptance of our design, we got to work planning our works in conjunction with Fortem solutions, to ensure that our works fit seamlessly into their overall programme. We then consulted with the residents to ensure they were fully informed about what the works entail, the timescales involved for each element and what to expect while the works are being completed.

Conclusion & Results

Completed on time, and on budget

All the works were completed within the programme, on time and within the original budget, with excellent customer satisfaction results, leaving the residents with significantly lower energy bills and the main client delighted with the improvements to their housing stock.

Do you feel the project was successful, and if so, why?

The works at Soldiers croft went very smoothly, the installation was quick and without any major disruption to the residents, routing of cabling was well thought out so not to damage anything with properties when the placement of the inverters was requested to be moved to allow for a residents appliances this we completed without an issue. The installation of the system with batteries incorporated is set give a significant saving on residents bills.

Were you satisfied with the quality of our service and products, and if so, what did you particularly like?

Very satisfied, the information and handover to the residents was particularly good this even went as far as to review how the residents would be programming and using the associated electric storage heaters and the dedicated solar immersion heater to maximise the efficiency of the system.

Was there any particular team member/team members who impacted on the project?

Chirs Monslow – handled the handover of information and was on hand to answer to any questions the residents had. He went as far as to review the residents electricity bills to calculate the potential savings of having the installation, on doing so he spotted an anomaly with their bill and supported them in talking to their suppliers to rectify the issue.
