Over 15,000 new boilers installed throughout Rotherham
Scarbrook Plumbing and Heating have now been working in Partnership with RMBC and their main contractors, Fortem Solutions and then Equans, since 2011.
From an initial small contract Scarbrook have continuously been on the project where we now install over 1700 boilers per year and have installed over 15,000 new boilers. RMBC currently have a housing stock of approximately 20,000 properties and Scarbrook are responsible for all responsive and planned installations throughout the entire borough.
The scope of works includes the replacements of back boiler units, solid fuel heating and redundant combination boilers, which are either old or broken gas boilers. The contract is split into 50% planned programmed works and 50% responsive installation. Full Void central heating systems are also included within the contract.
Managing 750 individual installs yearly, on a responsive basis
One of the key challenges in delivering schemes of this nature, is having the ability to deal with the installation of over 750 boilers per year on a responsive basis, while maintaining our high levels of customer services and installing the boilers within 5 working days of receiving the order. This is imperative that we achieve these targets as tenants will likely have no heating and water provisions.
Evolving our strategy to flexibly respond to emergency demand
As this contract was originally the main revenue stream for the business, we developed our resource plan solely around overcoming this challenge.
We did this by moving away from the traditional long-term programmes and moved to a 3-day resource plan. While this is challenging for any business, it allowed us the flexibility to move emergency installations into the programme without compromising any other customers. This process has reduced the time which we are contractually measured on down from 5 days, to a maximum of 3 days, but in most cases, 1 day.
Building a long-terms relationship with RMBC through years of commitment and quality
We've achieved numerous milestones whilst working on this scheme:
- Improved Delivery time on responsive installations from 1 week to 2 working days.
- Improved delivery time on Voids from 2 weeks to 4 working days all installed.
- 10,000 properties completed with a 98% of tenants rating our services as excellent.
- Scarbrook have given reinvested over 50K back into the community, supporting numerous local initiatives and charities.
The fact Scarbrook have now worked continuously for RMBC since 2011, installing over 15,000 boilers is a testament to our team and their commitment to delivering the very best service to RMBC, their contractors and tenants.
